Decorating the house for your child’s birthday

Kids’ birthday parties are both fun and stressful, which is why most parents have mixed feelings about them. This is especially true if your kids are very small and there’s a fat chance they won’t even remember the event when they grow up. However, studies come to contradict this widespread belief: children supposedly remember happy memories better and are highly influenced by positive experiences. So, even if your little son or daughter is only three, it would be nice to organize a birthday party, even if it’s just for the close family and friends. Besides, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on the event, because you can create a festive atmosphere with a minimum budget. Apart from the birthday cake and the actual gifts, you should get a few colourful hats and some cute decorations, such as the birthday ribbon. Most people know these items only as a way of wrapping gifts, but they have plenty of other uses.

One of the biggest challenges that comes with decorating a house for kids is that you have the items that are fun, creative, safe and clean. Children can be quite messy, so it’s not a great idea to get a piñata if you know that you’ll have to spend the next two days cleaning. For best results, keep things cute and simple. For example, you can move the table in the garden, where children can play freely and where you won’t have to worry about spilt drinks and food. If you live in an apartment or the weather outside is too chilly and you can only celebrate inside, it’s better if you remove the carpet. Birthday ribbons are a great way of giving any room a festive feel without investing a lot of money. Use them to wrap gifts or customise them with the name of the birthday boy or girl. For an added effect, hang them from the ceiling. One excellent way of keeping the kids entertained and making the birthday kid happy is to organize a little DIY project where everyone gets to make cars. All you need is some paper, crayons, glue and ribbons! Looking after small children for hours can be a nuisance, so while they work on the cards you can get a few moments of rest.

If you have a limited budget and you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on decorations from the store, you can always do them yourself or together with the entire family. There are plenty of creative ideas and you can find websites that give you step by step guides on how to decorate the house for special occasions. As for supplies such as coloured paper, ribbons and glitter, they are usually very affordable, especially if you make wholesale purchases. All in all, you don’t need to waste a lot of money to make a child happy, because creativity and simple ideas will be well received as well. In the end, it’s the thought that counts and your little one will definitely have a good time if the atmosphere is a pleasant one.
