What to expect if you visit Jerusalem

When they start planning their vacations, many people think about traditional destinations, such as European metropolises or tropical locations, but there are few those who are considering an uncommon place. A relevant example of such a destination is Jerusalem, the most important city in Israel. This city is most commonly known due to its religious history: it has the oldest three religions people have been aware of: Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Besides being one of the oldest cities in the world, it is placed on the plateau of Judean Mountains, near the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea, which gives it a peaceful and worth visiting atmosphere and particularities. Although the city itself is the proof of ancient civilizations and traditions, the modernity has managed to find a place here: in Jerusalem, the past and the present are balanced more than anywhere else on Earth. Each era has its own place, the old conservative buildings making space between modern designed office buildings and apartment blocks. The harmony of this place cannot be replaced or imitated, which is why the uniqueness of Jerusalem is annually attracting more and more tourist from all over the world.

In case you decide to spend one of your vacations here, you should know that there are not only religious and traditional places to see, but also incredible landscapes and natural beauties. The City of Gold, as it is commonly named by Hebraic inhabitants, has become an eligible destination and Jerusalem vacation rentals have developed a lot in the past years, offering those who come to see the best accommodation conditions. Even if its image is still that of an old and traditionalist city, people who spend at least a few days here leave with a completely different image: its beauties must be seen, in order to be believed and promoted, which is why Jerusalem should be a “must see” on your holiday list. The new and the old “live” in perfect harmony, and the city is divided into three different areas. The Old City is the most famous part, with its historical walls which are considered one of the most valuable world heritages. The main three religions of the world can be encountered at any step, because the area is the home of sites for Jews, Christians, and Muslims, and the manner in which these cohabit is completely unbelievable.

The New Jerusalem, located in the Western part of the city, is famous for its modern buildings and futurist architecture. It has continuously developed since the State of Israel in 1948 until the Six Day War in 1967, and represents the commercial core of the capital city of Israel. On the other hand, the Eastern Jerusalem is the traditional part, considered the capital of Palestine by many Palestinians, because the area has been taken from Jordan in 1967. In case you are into unusual holiday destinations, Jerusalem is the perfect choice, whether you want to see the roots of a civilization, but also the manner in which it has evolved.
